​Welcome to a new year of school and a new year of PTO.  As we start the 2022-23 school year, remember that our main focus is children - the children in your home, the children in our school and the children in our community. 

The 2021-22 school year has come and gone. As a community we faced many challenges. As a PTO our hope is we continue to foster an amazing community for the students of Cherokee. While the past few years that meant keeping everyone healthy, safe and 6 feet apart, it also meant we couldn't hold our very many events and fundraisers that we think, help make us such a strong Cherokee family. Right now, our plan is to come together in any and every way possible as long as we can do it safely. 

If this is your first year at Cherokee Elementary School, I would like to extend a very warm Wildcats welcome to each of you.  If you are a returning Wildcat, I know that you are as excited as we are to be starting the school year up again.

Our school cannot do anything without the support of you. Whether you are a new PTO member or a returning member, we thank you for your contributions, time, and commitment to our organization, our teachers, and most importantly our students! As a member of our Cherokee Wildcats Family, you are a voice for our students and part of the largest child advocacy program in the world! It is such a rewarding experience!!   

This is my sixth year as PTO President and I am looking forward to continuing the working partnership we have established with the School Board, Administration, our amazing Teachers as well as, our invaluable Staff to provide an excellent learning experience for our children.

I encourage each and every one of you to become a part of our team.  The number one reason to join the PTO is to benefit the children.  In doing so, you also help us.  But there are many more advantages:
  • By becoming a PTO member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education. 
  • By volunteering with your PTO, you gain valuable experiences and personal confidence. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use, for a good cause. 
  • By getting involved, you’ll be part of the solution, helping to make positive change. 
  • PTO functions provide opportunities to meet other parents and teachers. Cherokee wants every student and person that walks through its doors to feel welcomed in an inclusive environment!
  • The PTO is a forum for exchanging ideas, attend the PTO meetings throughout the year to make suggestions, and provide your input. You may even win a prize just for showing up!​

 We are always encouraging sponsors to help with the cost of the class T-shirts and student resources. The sponsorship will allow every student at Cherokee to receive a shirt free of cost while being able to have your company promoted with the business logo printed on the shirt. As always, we would like to ensure that Cherokee is a “Safe, Joyful, and Challenging Learning Community” and to teach our students how to be “Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.”

What ways can a parent volunteer?

Anyone with a family member at Cherokee Elementary School is invited to part of all the volunteer opportunities.
     GET INVOLVED
~ Participate with your family in our Family Fun events throughout the year and enjoy our school community
~ Join us once a month for PTO general meetings keeping you updated on events all year round
~ Review the PTO activities and share your time and talents
~ Support PTO Sponsored fundraisers
        We offer a variety of fundraisers and ALL participation is optional, please support those which make you most comfortable
~ VOLUNTEER!

Your involvement with the PTO will benefit everyone, but the greatest reward is seeing he smile in your child's face when you are involved in his or her world.

When it comes to making a difference, nothing matters more than action.
